Our colleagues at PsyNal have published this valuable video about Roma Week. We share their message about the importance of this celebration and the work we are doing together. At MentBox, we prioritize a participatory approach to develop effective mental health solutions tailored to the needs of the Roma community.
As Roma Week 2025 approaches, the #MentBox project reaffirms its commitment to improving mental health in Roma communities across Europe 🇪🇺
In line with the European Commission’s priorities, MentBox is working in collaboration with communities in Polígono Sur (Seville) to identify intervention tools that address the most pressing needs, and then adapt, deploy and test them in this community. José Manuel Barroso Manzano, psychologist from our team, tells us more about this initiative.
From PsyNal – Translational Psychiatry, we promote a participatory approach that ensures that the designed solutions respond to their real needs. To this end, we collaborate with organizations such as Fundación Atenea, Asociación Entre Amigos de Sevilla, and Asociación Akherdi, among others, as well as with the Health Commissioner of Polígono Sur, to identify the most effective tools, adapt them and test them in the local context.

The European project MentBox joins Roma Week 2025 to improve access to mental health in Romani communities across Europe.
In Polígono Sur, Seville, a neighborhood with a high concentration of Roma population, MentBox works with local entities to identify, adapt, and test intervention tools that meet their real needs.
From April 7 to 10, Brussels hosts key events within a week celebrated across Europe. The goal: to raise visibility of the challenges faced by the Roma community and strengthen their leadership in the EU political framework.
In Spain, studies reflect greater mental health vulnerability among the Roma population, exacerbated by social inequalities and barriers to access services.
MentBox promotes participatory, evidence-based interventions, coordinated by the European Alliance Against Depression, with the support of the European Commission.
