Work Packages: Building the MentBox Mental Health Toolbox for Europe

The MentBox project’s five work packages (WPs) are designed to deliver a modular mental health toolbox for Europe. WP1 manages project coordination, WP2 identifies best practices from experts and patients, and WP3 adapts interventions for Spain’s Roma community. WP4 focuses on communication and policy guidance with EU ministries, while WP5 finalizes the adaptable MH-Toolbox, ensuring it meets the diverse mental health needs of member states.

WP1: Project Management and Coordination

WP1 will set up the MentBox Consortium to ensure effective and coordinated delivery of the project. This includes:

  1. Facilitate Consortium Meetings Internal communication structures.
  2. Schedule and organize all project meetings.
  3. Project reporting preparation.
  4. Budget management.
  5. Risk Management.

WP2: Identification of Best Practice – The Voice of Experts & Patients

The primary objective of WP2 is to identify best practice interventions to be included in the MHToolbox and to gain, via a qualitative co creation, the best and most effective approaches to deploying mental health interventions.

  1. To identify successful elements of managing mental health problems via a literature review. / Identify key elements of successful approaches in managing mental health issues through an extensive review of existing literature.
  2. To identify best practice interventions from prior experiences with managing mental health problems in various community settings
  3. To establish a representative sample of stakeholders to identify promising mental health interventions targeting depression, suicide, and non-clinical mental distress through a co-creation process.
  4. To identify the most important elements of best practice intervention using the results of the literature review and the Delphi Survey.
  5. To inform WP3, WP4 and WP5 of implementation consideration.
  6. To develop guidelines for the defined best practice interventions that feed into WP5.

WP3:  Minority Populations – Roma People

Their focus is on working with the Roma population in Seville, Spain, to better understand how to effectively approach mental health interventions tailored to this community.

  1. Engage the local Roma community in Seville.
  2. Identify which mental health interventions are appropriate for the Roma community.
  3. Tailor these interventions to the needs of the Roma community (via a co-creation process).
  4. To establish a representative sample of stakeholders to identify appropriate mental health interventions for the Roma
    community.
  5. Test the interventions with the Roma community in Seville.

WP4:  Communication, Dissemination & Policy Guidance

WP4 is responsible for the project’s communication and dissemination activities.

  1. Engage with EU member state ministries responsible for mental health.
  2. Develop policy implementation guidance on how to best implement mental health interventions in various EU member state settings.
  3. Make the project outputs and deliverables available to the relevant stakeholders, such as advocacy groups, labour organizations, government, and other interested parties, including the European Commission.

WP5:  Modular Mental Health MH-Toolbox – Integration & Adaptation

The primary objective of WP5 is to develop and finalise the Modular Mental Health MH-Toolbox for further distribution to EU member states after the project.

  1. Design the MH-Toolbox to ensure it is user-friendly for EU member states and easily to adapt to the needs of other vulnerable groups.
  2. Tailor the existing EAAD interventions to be included, following the advice and outcomes of WP2.
  3. Develop and finalise the MH-Toolbox and Guidelines for further adaptation.
  4. Provide a structure of ongoing (post-project) support to EU member states that wish to implement the MH-Toolbox.
